the movies

I went to the movies in Brighton yesterday.

Or rather, I went to the "cinema" in Brighton yesterday. We must speak properly - this is Brighton after all.
For non-Melburnians: Brighton is nearly as swanky as you get. And it shows.

This cinema sold popcorn and coke, as cinemas do. It also sold devonshire tea. And gourmet pizza. And cheese platters. And champagne.
That's right: you can sit, watching the movie, and drink champagne (specially chosen to complement your cheese platter).

Being the plebe I am, I had a coke. But still...

It was all quiet, and beautifully decorated, and elegant, and generally wonderful.

We were only there because it was pretty much the only place still showing Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day - which you should all see RIGHT NOW because it's awesome!
Otherwise, it never would have occurred to me to travel all the way to Brighton just for a movie. But I did. And it was worth it.

Brighton makes movie-going into an experience. I so need to go again...

Just watched "Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day" via my Netflix DVD subscription and it was charming. Quirky and surprising. [Love happy endings]

Of course there was no champagne. :sigh:

found your site by accident and stayed to read 'geekery' and the delicious 'cake' so far

Welcome! And Merry Christmas!

Isn't it a great movie? I had so much fun watching it. (And you've just reminded me - I've being meaning to see it again...)
