Currently fighting the urge to visit the IT department with a baseball bat and a flamethrower.
Apparently, a few days ago, someone in IT decided that I had too many emails in my account. Which, yeah, is reasonable.
And if they'd, for instance, contacted me to say "um, please delete 75% of your emails, or we'll do it for you" I really wouldn't have minded.
Okay, I would have minded, because it would have been annoying and stressful. But still...
They didn't do that, however. In fact, they didn't contact me at all.
What they DID was delete every email in my account that was more than two weeks ago.
I discovered that this morning, when I went to one of my carefully-organised folders, to retrieve a fairly important email - so important, in fact, that I'd saved it for over three months.
Strangely enough, if I get a trivial email of no consequence, it gets deleted pretty quickly. If I save an email for over two weeks, it's probably important.
If it makes it into one of my email folders rather than sitting in my inbox, it's important.
And if I have a meeting every month, I'm going to need to save the emails from the last month until the next meeting, which will be more than two weeks away!
Thinking about it from a slightly calmer, detached perspective, I really don't think a flamethrower is the solution.
Anyone know where I can get grenades?
