cause of insomnia

Elf has apparently decided that he no longer wants to sleep on my feet.
Instead, he wants to sleep at the top end of the bed, and have me pat him while he sleeps - all... night... long...

This is not conducive to me getting enough rest.

I know I should just kick him off so that I can get at least one night's sleep without being nuzzled awake every half hour for more patting, but I really can't. I just love the fact that this little fuzzy animal thinks there is nothing so cool as being patted by me, and starts purring every time I pay him attention...

Have I mentioned lately that I'm glad we can pick Hamish up and put him to bed and not have him bother us all night? ;-)
He is rather like a kittycat though...and will, just like Elf, nudge for attention. And everytime he nudges and puts his head down for the impending pat....and nothing happens....he then snuffles the hand, checks on the floor in case peanuts or sultanas fell out of it somehow, sticks his nose/ head under the hand and stays there in the hope a pat will now be forthcoming...he does hint rather unsubtly. If still nothing happens, he's been known to lick the hand enocuragingly, give it a nudge, and try to move it around with his teeth/ head/ paws....
Ah, pets. Gotta love 'em. :-)

At least it is not claws in your scalp that Smudge used to do! Still, need to break the habit, so you can get some sleep!
