Breaking News!!!

Reading the paper this morning is hilarious.

What are they talking about? Well, Obama, obviously. You'd have to have the entirety of Europe catch fire before the newspapers would go with a different headline.
However, there's a problem.

You see, the inauguration was at 3am this morning. We were all asleep, and the papers had long since gone to the printers.

So we're getting a whole lot of phrases like:
Barring any unforseen circumstances, Mr Obama was sworn into office early this morning.

and
He was then expected to make a speech lasting fifteen minutes or so.

and
More than two million people were expected to witness the event.

It really is cracking me up...

*g* Our London evening freesheets (printed around 3-4pm here and therefore just missing all the action) were having fun with their tenses instead. 'President Obama will have taken office', 'millions will have watched' (is that the future perfect?).

Ah, time differences...

Heh. That's amusing. I got to watch it on TV since the good stuff happened at around 12-2 or so.

Technically I could have even gone down there to watch, but really, why would I stand in the freezing cold for hours to watch it on a JumboTron when I can sit in a warm room to watch it on TV?

The Justice who swore him in totally fucked up the oath of office, though. It was silly.

He was a Bush appointee. What do you expect?

It's a VERY good day for America.
