The number one thing that stops me reading crossover fanfics?

When Buffy isn't actually a Summers - instead she's a Grissom/Bartlett/O'Neill/Gibbs.

Or when Xander's real dad is the lead guy on the crossover show.

Or when Willow is the relative of the nearest Jewish cast member. Or the nearest redhead.

Putting Dawn in a different family works okay - because, hey, monks making different decisions or whatever. (But it would be kinda nice if Glory actually chased her into the crossover show, once in a while.)

But otherwise? There are other ways to get crossovers to occur. And I'm sick of all the new family members.

You know...

*strokes invisible beard*

I don't believe I've ever read a true crossover (excluding Ats/BtVS clearly). And after reading this, I don't think I will ever want to ever :P

Although, I did hear of this idea somewhere awhile ago about the island on Lost being some kind of holding cell/hell for former W&H employees and clients, since several of the actors had been on Angel, and that some of the other characters would crossover on it and...that is something I would be interested in checking out.

Also, how do you feel about crossover fan vids? I once saw one where it was Buffy and Clark Kent--true loves, blah blah blah. And of course, the epic BtVS/Heroes/The Dark Knight/Spiderman/Iron Man/Hulk/something I've forgotten fan vid...

There are actually some quite good ones out there - if you know where to look. I generally rely on people's recs.
(My favourites being a BtVS/Harry Potter one, a BtVS/Law&Order, a BtVS/Stargate, a Stargate/Farscape, a BtVS/Doctor Who, and a BtVS/Sesame Street.)

They're fun! Especially that Buffy Vs Edward one that's been floating round the web lately...

Ummmmmm, please to be linking to this BtVS/Sesame Street madness????

Also the BtVS/HP one, cause I have read farrrr too many bad ones in that vein and would like to cleanse my mind. Including one where Harry Potter is Giles' long-lost nephew or some crazy shit - cause they're both British!! - and sympathizes with Buffy over the burden of saving the world, one where Willow goes to be Harry's ~special magic mentor~ after S7 and ends up defending killing Warren "because he deserved it" in front of all of Hogwarts and then dies in some dumb epic battle and is buried in a Snow White coffin by a river and Spike cries and cries because they were true lovers. Yeah. I'm bitter.

But I love the Buffy vs. Edward one! Hilarity.

Buffy vs the Count, which is set in season 7, and quite funny.

A Gift of Ordinary Magic, which is post-series, and very interesting.

Right. From now on, I'm going to maintain that Joyce Summers is clearly the younger sister of Frasier Crane - because they're both American! It's perfect!

and then dies in some dumb epic battle and is buried in a Snow White coffin by a river and Spike cries and cries because they were true lovers.

Thanks! I'll check those out.

Uh huh. There were lots of pointed comments from Giles about how terrible the Dursleys were, and how much he did miss his sister, uh, Harry's mom. (Can't remember her name, clearly I don't actually read HP.) SO CLEVER, LOL.

*boggles*

Yeahhhh. It was pretty crazy. Like Willow's all hangin' out with Harry and teaching him ~the true meaning of magic~ and worrying that she's gonna go all dark - and then I think both she and Spike became profs at the school? And everyone's like GIGGLE they like each other GIGGLE. And Dawn is also going to Hogwarts, and is friends with Hermione, and hooks up with Connor, who is also there for some reason.

It was rather crazy.
