How very annoying.



(Just tried self-googling - it's really rather fascinating seeing what shows up. Mostly lots of LJ discussions I'd forgotten I had.)

I have no idea why I have the "1" - it just seemed to work.

"Deird" is what my sister calls me. (And, by extension, her husband and Caleb.) A nickname that started for reasons of teasing-little-sister, and stuck.

I used to be the only Ruuger on the block for almost a decade (except for misppelled firearms), but then few years ago someone joined a bunch of gaming-related forums as 'ruuger' though they never seemed to post anything, which I guess is good from my POV :)

And I actually have a google alert set for 'ruuger' so that I'll immediately know if someone connects my RL and online identities somewhere public. It's interesting stuff what that brings up sometimes - like some Swedish Buffy forum discussing my Spike&Dawn fic in their fanfic-of-the-month club :)

I think you need a Gmail/Google account to do it, but just go here and enter what you want to keep an eye on and how often you want to be alerted.

I have set up couple of different alerts: "ruuger + my real name" which alerts me immediately if new search result appears, and then plain "ruuger" that's collected weekly that I can go through if I'm feeling bored or curious :)

Why would you even do that? FB is for using your real name, silly people.

This reminds me of how like everyone I know on FB is putting their middle name as something like "Is so cool" or whatever their favorite band is or something. Kinda silly, I do repeat.
