The Curse Of Imagination

Crap.
I have a plotbunny for NaNoWriMo.

I was really hoping to avoid having that happen.
After all, it's NaNoWriMo! A month of sponsored insanity. And 50,000 words is... a lot of words.
I was planning on relaxing, laughing at all the suckers who were idiotic enough to try it, and using the excuse of "I wasn't feeling inspired."
And then this plotbunny arrived.

He hopped into my life yesterday, mid-massage, and tentatively sniffed the air to be sure it was safe. And I, foolishly, did not drive him from my garden with a pitchfork. Nope - I just watched him, and went "Hmm. Interesting." And he promptly started digging up my veggie garden and unearthing characterisations and chapter titles and exciting incidents, and before I knew it... I was going to enter NaNoWriMo.

(I was mentioning this to Michael backstage last night, finishing my tale of woe with "...and now I have to do NaNoWriMo," and he just looked at me blankly and asked "Why?"
...
Why?
...because I thought of an idea?
I have realised, once again, that non-writerly types live in a world where they don't have to put stuff on paper every time it occurs to them that a plot might work and this would be a really funny line and that lead character's name could be Trixie! or possibly Sara! and maybe there could be a metaphor involving sheep...)

So, yeah. NaNoWriMo. Fun.
Should this plotbunny continue to hop around my brain, my novel will be entitled A Year In Japan. And the only thing even vaguely japanese about it will be a single postcard...

I think Anya was right: bunnies are evil.

Isn't it?

I've been writing fairly constantly since November, and so far I've managed to write 15,000 words of post-worthy quality.
And NaNo requirements are 50,000 words or more, in ONE MONTH! Aargh!

I'm going to go insane...

Ouch.

I think a friend of mine gave it a shot the year before last..

Well, at least you have until next November to prepare.
