My View
My office window is about to lose its view.
Not the sweeping views of the city skyline. That's been gone for a while.
But, right next door to us, they're building a skyscraper. It will eventually be the same height as our building. And for the past couple of months, there's been a fascinating view of cranes, concrete mixers, and various workmen, right outside.
A brief reminder: my office is 80% engineers. We couldn't care less about sweeping city skylines. But cranes? They're cool.
Last week, the crane was getting moved up a couple of floors so that they could start building a bit higher - and every single person in my office stopped working for an hour while we watched the groovy hydraulic lifters raising up the crane...
I'm really going to miss this.
