Wrong Vampires of Wrongness

Friends came over last night, and we watched Interview With A Vampire.
I think I might have discovered a vampire who's more annoying than Edward Cullen.

I mean, yes, Lestat is entertaining - and Claudia is so much fun - but Louis is so very boring, and whiny, and angsts even more than Angel. Without half as much of a reason. Get over yourself, Louis! You silly person!

...plus, they sleep in coffins. Why on earth did Anne Rice want her vampires to sleep in coffins?

The vampires in Moonlight slept in freezers and the vampires in True Blood slept either in a coffin or in the ground.

.......freezers? Um, WHY?

[identity profile] petzipellepingo.livejournal.com 2009-12-06 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Why does Mick sleep in a freezer?
In the Moonlight universe, vampires are dead. Sleeping in freezers keeps their bodies from decomposing, so they won't smell bad. Also, whenever Mick is injured, he needs human blood to heal, so it may be that slowing his decomposition by sleeping in a freezer also lessens his craving and need for blood.

According to Wikipedia:

Like classic vampires, most do choose to sleep in some form of coffin during the day because sun exposure can cause death/pain.

Sadly, the article doesn't address this any further. Nor does it mention any vampires that don't sleep in coffins.

Deficient.

...so sleep indoors?

*sighs*

Windows kinda ruin that... :-p And you never know; they might really dislike curtains.

Then sleep in the basement? Or just board up the windows.

Lestat does it 'cause he's a drama queen and Louis and Claudia don't know any better?

(Note that it has been ages since I read the books and I did not finish the movie.)

Louis is annoying, isn't he? Pretty sad when a vampire can be boring. "Get over yourself" is a pretty good set of directions for him. lol I'm pretty sure Lestat said something along those lines at some point. Perhaps not in the movie, but sometime or other.

If you think movie!Louis is bad, avoid the book like the plague. It is ALL woe-is-me, I'm-damned-for-eternity, I-should-kill-myself-but-don't-have-the-balls-to-do-it angst.

Louis was the proto-Angel. "I'm so TORTURED, omg."

Heh. There is a reason Spike calls it "the Anne Rice routine" (though I suppose technically, Angel was brooding before Anne Rice wrote her books).

Oh. Plot bunny. What if Anne Rice MET Angel, and that's where she got the idea for Louis? But of course, she changes some things (like sleeping in coffins) because she thinks it'll make a better story, which annoys Angel to no end.

But I don't actually know anything about Anne Rice... I've never even read the book, just seen the movie. Someone else write it!

Silly, silly wrong vampires. You are why I avoid reading/watching about vampires in general.

That's the only movie I've ever walked out of got out of my seat, pulled at the door in some kind of nightmare in which it somehow refused to open, fainted, revived, HEAVED the wretched door open, staggered out and collapsed in the lobby.

Ok, so maybe Louis is whinnier than Angel (hard to believe, but true) but he is also about 10 billion times hotter, so it makes up for it.

Have you read the books? Much better than the movie. The second book is from Lestat's perspective. Much more interesting.
