Commercial Commute

You know those guys at the footy who walk around with big trays selling people pies and drinks?
This afternoon, there was one on my train.

He wasn't actually selling pies - they were chocolate bars, and Twisties, and so forth. But he had a big elaborate tray (made of cardboard - but seriously, elaborate - it had four different levels and special holders) and he walked up and down the train asking people if they wanted to buy anything.

Trains are fun...

Heh! I completely misread 'people pies' and thought you meant they sell pies made out of people.

Hee! No, we are not in Sweeney Todd's London...

That is possibly the most awesome thing I've ever heard. (But then again, I'm quite tired and therefore easily impressed.)

If only I commuted by public transport... or could convince someone to travel in my car and do the same thing... hmmmm....

I think, eventually, you'd get a bit sick of someone sitting in your passenger seat and continually offering you chocolate.

Actually, that might be kinda nice...

Well, they could offer me chips and jelly dinosaurs on alternate days.

Was he legit from a charity like Lions or something, or just some dude out to make a buck? I suspect the latter.

But, he could make a killing on the long-haul country
trains...the number of people I see getting on with their coke bottle glued to their hand every.single.day...

Well, I didn't see any signs or posters saying what he was selling them for, so I'm thinking probably dude out to make a buck.

He was making a fairly good profit, actually...

Hmm...like begging, only you get something in return. Still, I'm pretty sure it's illegal to sell products on public transport. Hope he doesn't get caught.

On the West Highland Line, a bit of a tourist attraction, they have a trolly that goes up and down selling things.

Ooh! Fun! (Yet another thing to try when I go to Britain...)

They have this on the trains in india...every ten minutes you are harrassed by someone yelling "chai", "coffee", and for some reason "ice-cream"

Ice-cream? Weird.
