Want a great tip on a way to really freak yourself out?

1) Be home alone.
2) Wait until night-time.
3) Put on a dvd of a crime show, with lots of really exciting murders and kidnappings.
4) Wait until the middle of a REALLY exciting fight, with guns and punches flying every which way.

5) ...and then let your house have a blackout.

As in FULL black-and-can't-see-a-thing-whatsoever blackout.

Luckily, I had lots of candles and matches in strategic locations, because I am crazy prepared, but I was still extremely shaky and freaked out.

I think maybe I should stick to watching Sesame Street and Disney movies after dark from now on, just in case...

There is never a good time for a blackout, but that must be the worse timing ever!

Eek. Reminds me of the time when I was about 16 and having a slumber party at a friend's house - parents out, illicit alcohol, horror movies until 4am. At about midnight we were watching Poltergeist and were at the point where the tree outside the window goes nuts, breaks through the window and starts attacking the kids. At exactly that moment my friend's brother arrived home and knocked on the loungeroom window on his way in. A total fluke on his part... he was quite puzzled to hear terrified screams and the sound of wine glasses flying across the room.

I got the blackout too, but I was watching The Biggest Loser. The power cut came as more of a relief than anything, really.

Hey, score one for the crazy prepared lady! Very nice. :D

I have SUCH a horrible time with anything that has, like, vaguely dark themes during the night. Like, went to a 9 o'clock showing of The Dark Knight (which I didn't like very much)? Scared me shitless, couldn't sleep for hours.

Seriously, even after like a Dollhouse ep, I'm kind of like, "...I'm just going to read for a few hours now."

Luckily, most of the movies I Netflix are, like, Breakfast at Tiffany's or old musicals or whatever, so this isn't generally a problem. Except I want to rewatch Pan's Labyrinth, which is SO FUCKING SCARY OMIGOD.

Oh, and sorry about the blackout. I don't know why I always forget to mention these things. *facepalm*
