This is actually a major thing with me - I used to really hate lots of the characters on Buffy. And that was such a sucky and frustrating way to look at things. Fandom has made me fall in love with pretty much everyone - or if I don't love them, I appreciate where they're coming from and why they sometimes act dumb (aka RILEY). Or at least I can make fun of people's stupidity, right? :P
And I SO don't get the people who are all like "DOLLHOUSE JUST SHOULD HAVE ECHO LOL". That show is the best for its ensemble - Adelle, Claire, Topher, Mellie, Sierra, Victor, Boyd, Paul - and Echo and Alpha.
