Storm Damage, And So Forth
Dec. 22nd, 2007 09:37 pmI have a huge hole in my ceiling.
With the amount of rain that's happened this week, it was fairly inevitable that my house would develop a leak somewhere. Luckily, it wasn't a major one. A broken tile, and a small trickle of water down the kitchen wall. Dad came over, replaced the tile, and all was well.
That is, until half an hour later, when a metre-long crack suddenly appeared in my living room ceiling, and dripped water all over the carpet. Apparently, the water that had leaked in pre tile-replacement had collected in that one spot, and was heavy enough to crack the plaster.
Still, not a major crack. But I moved my furniture slightly, just in case.
Good thing, too.
This evening, a massive chunk of plaster and insulation fell into the middle of my living room, leaving a gaping hole in its place. And apparently the original leak wasn't fixed: the hole is now dripping water from all four sides...
