In my linguistics course 'English around the world', one of the phrases we discussed was 'NO BARRACKING ALLOWED', which sounds party-pooperish in Australia, but actually means, kinda, 'You are not allowed to boo and heckle the team opposing your team of choice.'
Put that together with the whole 'Sit on your fanny and root for your team!' fiasco and you've got a nice little pot of confusion gong...
