Right. Well.
Just found out that my project isn't being funded. The whole thing's been delayed at least a year. Which means I suddenly have no work to do...

The annoying thing is, it's a good project that everyone agrees needs to be done. But politics has entered the game.

You see, there was this report. For confidentiality reasons I can't use its real name, so I'll call it... The Coffee Cup Report.
Anyway, this report came out a couple of weeks ago, and mentioned a whole lot of things that could potentially be done to improve bits of Melbourney... stuff. Stuff that I also can't say.
And my project was included in The Coffee Cup Report.
Which you'd think would be a good thing. I mean, this report is released saying "Hey! You should really do Project Teddy Bear!" So obviously, the government would really want to do Project Teddy Bear, right?
Not so.
You see, The C-C-R didn't just say "Do Project Teddy Bear". It said "Look into doing Project Teddy Bear, and maybe consult the community about Project Teddy Bear." And even though we've been looking into P-T-B for months now, it's all been confidential, so it doesn't look like we have.
And if they announce in a couple of weeks (like they were going to) that Project Teddy Bear is happening, it'll look like they rushed into things without consulting anyone...
Bloody politics.

I'm not sure what this means for my job. One of the useful things about the public service is that it's very hard to get sacked. But they still don't have anything for me to do.
I'm sure I'll find out eventually.

Oh well. At least we now have an excuse to leave work early and go shopping. Yay!
