I've realised that, when I'm watching tv, you can tell what I'll be watching just by what else it is that I'm doing at the time.
I almost never just watch tv - I tend to have my hands busy.

I figured this out on the weekend, because I bought a new jigsaw puzzle, and promptly started watching episodes of Dawson's Creek while I put it together. I haven't watched Dawson's in months - and the last time I did, I was, strangely enough, doing a jigsaw puzzle.

Doctor Who usually involves doing some of the puzzles on my coffee table (vaguely Rubik's Cube-esque, only easier), over and over again.
And Buffy is ideal for cross-stitching.

If I've got a huge stack of dishes to wash, I'll probably have House on my computer.
Cooking, on the other hand, usually has Farscape in the background - although I occasionally switch to Lois & Clark or Frasier.
Frasier is also ideal for doing exercise to.

Weirdly, this also applies to music.
There are specific cds that I only ever listen to on long freeway drives, while some of my music only ever makes an appearance when I'm battling Microsoft.

Natalie Imbruglia is terrible music for most circumstances, but worked wonders while I was writing my Joyce/Giles fic - whereas writing about Rapunzel involved a lot of angry chick music, for some reason.

I am apparently a creature of habit...

Only vaguely relevant...

...but did I ever tell you that one of my Classics lecturers was in an episode of Red Dwarf? She also did other stuff like directing the Cambridge Greek Play and many other exciting and noteworthy things, but most of the students were more impressed with the 20 minutes of Red Dwarf. Says something about our priorities, really. Or perhaps about our culture. Well, it says something about something, I'm sure.

I don't multi-task in front of the tv but I do listen to music for specific things. The soundtracks from Buffy the Musical and Wicked are what I am listening to the most while writing. I tend to listen to Evanescence and Linkin Park when feeling down and blue.
