I've just mainlined two seasons of Stargate.

I laughed, I cried, I yelled at the screen and threw things, and I kept watching - avidly.

Given my growing enthusiasm for this show, you may be wondering if my tag is still appropriate. I think it is - because the silly show just won't leave me alone. I've spent almost my entire day watching episodes, and I still want MORE.
It's really annoying.

Anyway...

This season (or seasons, really), we had:

Redemption (1&2)
Jonas is here, and turns out to be really fun. But the fun-ness of Jonas is completely eclipsed by Rodney McKay - who spends the entire episode hitting on Sam Carter, mostly by mocking her theories as unworkable.

Oh, and Anubis tries to blow up the Stargate.

Descent
SG-1 almost drown!

Time for Jonas to save the day, and thus prove his worth to the team. He does this mostly by reprogramming a ship while swimming, and then teleporting himself (and a whole lot of water) somewhere safer.
Actually, it was pretty cool.

Frozen
Frozen alien lady is not so frozen, infects the crew, saves the crew, and then dies tragically.

This episode is mostly an excuse to get O'Neill rescued by the Tok'ra.

Nightwalkers
Creepy town of sleeping evil people.

Jonas again proves that he is really fun, by noticing EVERY SINGLE DETAIL in the entire world, while simultaneously having coffee.

Abyss
de-Tok'ra-ed Jack (if that adjective makes any sense) is captured by a Goa'uld! Oh noes!

Nothing much happens, apart from Daniel getting shoes thrown through him, but the Goa'uld guy has the most awesome prison cells imaginable: no bars, just shifting gravity. My engineering side came out to be excitable and awestruck.

Shadow Play
Crazy schizophrenic guy from Jonas's planet!

I was pretty bored, actually, mostly because his craziness was pretty obvious by halfway through...

The Other Guys
Coolest. Episode. Imaginable.

Apart from... you know... all those other cool episodes... (Playing golf through the Stargate, f'rinstance.)

But I just love Star Trek nerds being on tv - especially when they're done well.
(Blame Galaxy Quest - that's where this Trekkie-love must have come from.)

Anyway, the nerds do lots of clumsy, nerdy stuff, and make silly jokes about red shirts, and then heroically save the day EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE INCOMPETANT, and there's a DREAM SEQUENCE! WITH CARTER! WOO!

Also responsible for a fantastic quote from O'Neill:
Herak: No matter what you have endured, you have never experienced the likes of what Anubis is capable of.
Col. O'Neill: You ended that sentence with a preposition. Bastard!

Allegiance
Invisible assassin starts killing people at the Alpha site. Cue big fighting between the Tok'ra and the Jaffa.
I'm on the Jaffa's side.

Cure
A drug that will cure all diseases. And if these silly aliens had watched any sci-fi, they would have known exactly how badly that was going to go.

Prometheus
The press gets hold of info about a new spaceship, and get a tour onboard. But half the press are actually evil!

Personally, I was hoping that the nice blonde reporter would get trapped in space and have a Vital Role To Play - but no luck. She ended up back on Earth at the end of the episode, and was never seen again...

Unnatural Selection
Jack wants to name the ship The Enterprise!
Wacky time-bendy devices!
Replicators who look human!
An entire planet covered in replicator parts! *shudders*
Thor!

...this episode was really fun.

Sight Unseen
Creepy glowy bugs from another world. I really should not have watched this straight before going to sleep...

Smoke & Mirrors
Senator Kinsey. Who I am beginning to hate with a passion.

And he's getting more powerful by the second.
This can't be good.

Paradise Lost
Maybourne! Maybourne is back!

And Maybourne is crazy!

Woo!

...yeah, that's pretty much the entire episode.

Metamorphosis
People get genetically manipulated against their will, and their bodies collapse into water. Clearly, the writers had just seen X-Men.

I remain disappointed that, although the extras are all grossly deformed, Sam Carter remains thin and pretty.
I seem to have been spoiled by Farscape turning Aeryn into a blue tentacled monster.

Disclosure
*sigh* I knew, at some point, they were bound to start having clip shows again.

At least, in this one, they finally TOLD the rest of the world about the Stargate program.
AND Senator Kinsey got beaten at his own game by a very smug General Hammond. Go Hammond!

Forsaken
And it's time for one of sci-fi's staples: the Nice People Are Actually Nasty, And Ugly Aliens Who Are Shooting At Us Are Actually Lovely People Who Probably Rescue Puppies In Their Spare Time episode.

This one went well, but was largely unmemorable.

The Changeling
Teal'c is all crazy!
Clearly, the writers have finished with X-Men, and moved on to imitating Normal Again.

Teal'c's wife is also played by a substitute-teacher-slash-preying-mantis, which had me convinced she was evil, even though she was actually just a hallucination.

Memento
SG-1 crashes on a planet with no history, and almost starts a civil war.

I spent most of this episode yelling at the army guy - but he was clearly the baddie, so I'm sure yelling was the appropriate reaction, and not a sign of re-emerging Stargate annoyance.

Prophecy
Jonas starts seeing the future.
And I really can't remember this episode at all. I'm assuming it probably wasn't that exciting.

Full Circle
Let's see...
1) SG-1 discover that Anubis is looking for something called the Eye of Ra.
2) SG-1 figure out where it is, and race to get it first.
3) SG-1 also wants to protect the planet it's on, from the wrath of Anubis.
So...
4) They go to the planet.
5) They find the Eye of Ra.
6) They give the Eye of Ra to Anubis.
7) They let Anubis kill every single person on the planet.
8) And they escape from Anubis's clutches (by giving him the Eye of Ra, and letting him kill people), return home, and congratulate themselves on a job well done.

Also, Daniel shows up.

Fallen
Daniel comes back! Naked!

...and instantly gets enlisted to stop Anubis, despite having no memory.
Hmm.

Homecoming
Anubis finds out about Jonas's home planet, and starts killing them all.
SG-1 saves the day, by... telling all the other Goa'uld about the planet and how they should control it instead? Which is apparently a good plan...

Fragile Balance
O'Neill Junior has arrived!
(I knew he was coming, but I didn't know how or when.)

And let me just take a moment to heartily applaud the magnificent acting done by mini!Jack. He was so very O'Neill-ish. *applauds*

I really hope he made arrangements with the SGC to get regular beer deliveries from someone over 21. Otherwise, I feel very sorry for him.

Orpheus
Another "Teal'c And His Family" episode. I really hate those. Especially when they start being all inspirational.

Revisions
Once again, proof that no-one in the Stargate universe has ever watched sci-fi: They link their brains up with a supercomputer that controls the city! Are they INSANE?!

Seriously, these people need to track down some dystopian literature. Or just watch Doctor Who once in a while.

Things go about as well as can be expected.

Lifeboat
Daniel's mind is taken over by twelve people.

Somewhere along the line, the writers managed to figure out how to write moving episodes that are actually moving. This being one of them.
Janet trying to explain things to the little-boy-in-Daniel made me cry...

And the king!Daniel was really fun.

Enemy Mine
More Unas. Again being really scary but actually quite nice.
Kinda boring, mostly.

Space Race
Sam helps to win a spaceship race!

This was so much fun! Especially when the newscasters were discussing the imminent death of several contestants... and continuing, in insanely cheery tones, to advertise tv-station-sponsored products!

Yay!

Avenger 2.0
As I mentioned earlier, I am madly in love with Stargate's Trekkies. Especially Dr Felger. And the more he screws up - even when he accidentally shuts down the entire Gate system and dooms the universe - the more I like him...

Birthright
Amazon women! Woo!

...although they weren't really that interesting.

On the other hand, Teal'c has finally fallen in love with an actress I actually like.

Evolution (1&2)
Supersoldiers are taking over the world, and Daniel has been captured by South Americans - along with his powerful alien device that sends people crazy.
Crazy men with machine guns. Fun, fun, fun...

Also, Veronica Mars' dad is friends with O'Neill.

Grace
Sam goes crazy! (Well, it was her turn.)

This episode is mostly an excuse for rampant Sam/Jack shippiness. Which is impressive, since they spend most of the episode not seeing each other at all.

But despite hardly ever being in the same location, the whole thing is shippy to the extreme, and I sigh happily and keep watching (while eating lots of chocolate).

Fallout
Jonas's planet is going to explode, which is entirely their fault, and a Goa'uld dies nobly.
Go noble Goa'uld! You rock!

Chimera
Osiris gets into Daniel's dreams (clearly the writers had started watching episodes of Angel), and Sam's boyfriend starts stalking her. But he's nice, so that's alright.

Death Knell
Sam runs around fleeing a supersoldier.
The others try to find her.
And the entire Tok'ra/Jaffa/Earth alliance breaks down, horribly, they all leave, and Sam's dad isn't trusted by his own group anymore...

Heroes (1&2)
Did I mention that the writers have figured out how to make me cry?

Yeah. Well. They have.

A lot.

Yes, I cried like a baby.

But... Janet. They killed Janet. They can't do that.
*sniffles*

(In other news, Stargate Command gets invaded by a child of the Senior Partners, a hologrammatic doctor from a spaceship, and Daphne Moon's ex-fiance - and no-one seems to notice...)

Resurrection
Evil NID guys create evil Goa'uld girl, and use her to DO EVIL.

Terrible. (Them, not the episode.)

Inauguration
Another clip show - this one using clips from the last clip show for its first clips...

The overall plot, though, is pretty fun. And I love the President dearly.

Lost City
*deep breath*
Jack gets the knowledge of the Ancients downloaded into his head AGAIN, leading to his inevitable death AGAIN, General Hammond gets fired, some other chick takes over, Anubis attacks Earth with his entire army, Senator Kinsey gets yelled at (YAY!), General Hammond flies Prometheus, SG-1 finds the lost city, Anubis gets his entire army destroyed by glowy yellow things, and Jack gets frozen, and THAT'S WHERE THE EPISODE ENDS! ON A CLIFFHANGER! WITH JACK, FROZEN, LOOKING AT SAM WHILE SHE LOOKS BACK!

AND I CAN'T GET THE NEXT EPISODE UNTIL MONDAY! AARGH!

It was incredibly cool seeing the start of SGA beginning to fall into place.
Not just them finding Atlantis - it's like, when I was watching Buffy for the first time, getting halfway through Hush and going "Ooh! That's Tara! That's Tara! How did I not realise this earlier?" ...because I knew Tara's name, but didn't actually know what she was going to look like.
Same here.
Because they introduced Dr Weir, and I went "yeah, okay, Dr Weir, taking over the SGC, fine," and then someone finally called her "Elizabeth", and I went "Ooh! Elizabeth! As in Elizabeth Weir! Cool!"

This is what comes of reading internet discussions of SGA without ever having watched it.

It's also quite confusing when you know that a guy called "Ronon" is going to be a regular on SGA, and then he appears, but then he turns out to have been a loyal servant of Anubis (which, fine, same as Teal'c), but then he DIES, and then you finally find out that this guy is called "Ronan", and you still have no clue who Ronon will be...

Can't wait for season 8...

You know, you write freakishly good summaries.

Good in the way that I've never seen this show, don't know who any of the characters are, and generally have no idea what you're talking about..but read it anyway. And find it interesting.

Mad skills.

Do you know, reading your comments, I really, really wish that I still had all of Rodney and SGA to look forward to all over again!

You know, thanks to your entertaining and enthusiastic summaries, I may have to start watching some of those old episodes. Some of them were really fun.

about three episodes or so into Season 8, make sure to watch The Rising, the premiere of Stargate Atlantis, as that is where it fully falls into place... Seasons 7 & 8 have some incredible episodes. As far as I'm concerned though, Janet's still alive.

I adore SG1.... and now nearly done with SGA.

Beware of my awesome powers of audio drama if I get much more hooked.

It's so bizarre...this is the point where I lost track. I'm only recognizing about two episodes out of three. Which is my problem, not yours. (It was the network shift--Sci-Fi started airing the then-current season while I was still watching two seasons back on local channels; I didn't have Showtime.)

Oh, how annoying. Isn't it a pain seeing episodes out of order, and then having to shift them all around in your head?

This is why dvds are fantastic.
