So, I asked for fic commentary and drabble requests. (Still happy to oblige if anyone wants to ask.)

These two were supposed to be drabbles, but somehow expanded into double drabbles (200 words) behind my back…

(for [livejournal.com profile] debris4spike, who asked for a Spuffy Christmas)

Deck The Halls

Buffy sat on the couch and sighed happily. “It all looks so nice.”
“It does a bit.” Spike passed her a wine glass, settling himself next to her.
“That tree’s pretty fancy. You sure we can afford it?”
“Absolutely. No tree too pricey for my girl.”
“And you-” She furrowed her brow and asked tentatively, “You did actually pay for it, right?”
“Course I did. What, you think I’d actually steal a Christmas tree?”
“Okay. Sorry. You’re right.” Buffy snuggled into him. “Look at us. All nice and Christmassy. With a decorated room. All paid for and everything.”
“Well… yes. All paid for.”
“Tree, baubles, tinsel…”
“Not the tinsel.”
“Huh?”
“Nicked the tinsel.”
“You stole tinsel?”
“Just a bit of tinsel. The place had loads of it.”
“Well… at least the rest is all paid for, right?”

Spike looked around the room at the star from a department store display, candles stolen from a local café, lights lifted from the porch of a gawdy house three blocks west, and the tree, genuinely bought and paid for, straight up, honest, on the level, from a bloke selling trees “fallen off the back of a truck” at one-tenth the price.

“Yeah. Definitely.”

* * * * *

(for [livejournal.com profile] lavastar, who asked for Dawn and Andrew friendship)

Beginnings

Out in the living room, Sara and Vi were arguing about hairbrushes – loudly.
Xander kept running up and down the staircase, trying to keep talking to Buffy, find his missing screwdriver, and prevent Anya from accidentally scaring all the younger girls.
And from all the shouting, it sounded like Kennedy was running another drill in the backyard.

They’d stolen the last bag of Doritos, and hidden in the broom closet – away from all the Potentials.

“Okay… um… Gloin, Gimli, Balin, Thorin… oh! and Bombur.”
“That’s only five. You’re still one short. No points.”
“Fine.” She grabbed a handful of Doritos. “Your turn. Um… Name six of the Smurfs.”
“Ooh. Okay.” He concentrated. “Papa Smurf, Lady Smurf…”

(It was weird. She never would’ve guessed they’d become friends.

But then had come the conversation last night. Buffy had screwed up her forehead, looking puzzled, Giles had polished his glasses and said “Yes. Quite.”, and Amanda had just nodded and gone back to discussing weapons with Rona.

Only Andrew had understood her joke.)

Willow’s voice seemed to have joined the din…

Andrew smiled at her, said “five DC superheroes”, and Dawn forgot about the chaos and thought it through.
“Uh… the Flash… Batman…”

Both of these drabbles left me with a smile. Spike trying for honesty and Dawn and Andrew bonding with geekdom.
Tender and affectionate.

Kyah! Yay for drabble-for-me!

And it's adorable, too. :D Go geeky-bonding.

And I *love* the Spuffy one - seems all complete fluff and then gets to be cute and funny, too.

So sweet - both of them. Loved Spike snagging lights from another person's house, Giles missing the joke, and Dawn and Andrew hiding from chaos in the closet. Hee!

Very nice.

Great drabbles. I missed them, what with the total chaos of Christmas.

ETA: Aargh! Too many 'totals' in my original comment.

Spike's moral compass is certainly askew, but it's all done with such love it gave me a warm smile.

Dawn and Andrew hiding from the chaos was charming.
