I've discovered that I know much more about politics and political history than most of my collegues.

In preparation for a seminar tomorrow, I have been reading a lot of different essays on Australian politics - one of which is focussed on the roles of the Prime Minister, the Governor General, and Parliament. This particular essay was written in 1974, which is, of course, the year before the Whitlam Dismissal.

When I commented to people that I found it interesting reading opinions of the Governor General's powers written before 1975, they just looked at me blankly. And my references to "Gough Whitlam. The Dismissal?" were met by questions of "The what?"

Apparently, I'm quite well informed, compared to the average Australian.

On a completely separate topic, please take note:
"Loose" has a meaning similar to "slack" (or, on occasion, "promiscuous").
It is impossible to "loose" one's car keys, one's job, or one's mind.
Learn how to spell, people!

Sure you can loose your keys; you can take them off the keyring or pry them out of a keyhole that was gummed up. You can loose a job you've had pinned down or a mind that was bound in the chains of convention.

:-)

Actually that would be "LOOSENing".

As in "Jack loosens his belt".

How about if one's car keys or mind were dangerous and had been tied in place?
