Okay, people. Watch carefully.

It's really not that hard. At least, I don't think so.

But for some reason, I constantly have people mis-spelling my user name.

Usually as "deidr1". That seems to come up a lot.

Then there's "deirde1", which at least seems pronounceable.

I've also seen "dierd1", "deidre1", and, most recently, "derid1".

Do other people have this happen to them? Or is it just me, and my very odd nickname?

It's "deird". It rhymes with "weird", and is spelled in the same way. IT'S NOT THAT HARD.

Awwww. That sucks.

I don't think anyone's ever misspelled mine - since it's just two actual words smooshed together.

When I'm snagging icons from people who have really complicated names with lots of numbers, I always assume they did that to make it harder for me to give them credit. XD

And, oh, lawlz, just saw the "derid1" thing in the BA poll. Ouch. *pats you*

Oh...huh. I always thought it was a variation of the name "deirdre". Just...you know...with a "1" instead of the "re".

*fails*

I commonly get people spelling mine "gabriellabelle" or "gabrielleabella". Which I get, cause my username is long and unwieldy. It's just a nickname I have for my cat, Gabrielle (I call her Gabrielle-a-belle. It rolls off the tongue. Try it).

Oh...huh. I always thought it was a variation of the name "deirdre". Just...you know...with a "1" instead of the "re".

Actually, it is, originally. :)

Old nickname my sister gave me - and it started as "deirdre", and then progressed to "deird", and then became many, many variations on the theme (deirdles, deirdre-anne, deirdy...), but "deird" is still the most common one.

Oh! Cool! I'd never made the "deird" = "weird" connection (cause in my head I just go ahead and think of the full name). Makes sense now that I think of it, though. :)

Heh. Two of my cats are Squint and Caet (pronounced like the girl name "kate")... which frequently get called Squint-o Bean and Kitty Caet.

Then there's Ninja (Ninja-girl), Riff (usually just "Riff") and Torg (Moron (he is, I swear!)).

Riff and Torg? Are you a Sluggy Freelance fan? :)

Most of my cats have gotten nicknames of some sort. Either that, or they just get used to being called a generic "Darling", "Sweetie", "Buddy", or something of that sort. Ah, kitties.

Just a lot. :D

Now that I think about it, Torg gets called "Nerd-Boy" a lot, too. *smirk* We realized after the fact that Ninja could have been named Kusari... but you know, she's really not that evil. She is that acrobatic, though.

(That's Torg in the icon. Riff looks almost just like him.)

A lot of people can't spell wierd weird correctly, either.

I think I really only got the hang of that one about a year ago... which is kind of weird.

But you should see the bewildered looks every time I give out my e-mail address orally... Nine out of ten I just say, "Got a piece of paper? It's kind of tricky." (that goes for both of my e-mail addys...)

Not alone, hon. Most commonly, I get "eoywn" or "eowen." But you know what bugs me more than the misspellings? Forgetting the underscore. Because there's an [livejournal.com profile] eowyn315 out there. And I hate her.

And she doesn't even use it! *outrage* It's a blank journal.

But sometimes, I am happy she's there. Otherwise, I'd have no pointless rivalries with people who don't know they're my nemeses. :)

Dude, you're not my nemesis. Captain Hammer is my nemesis. Captain Hammer, corporate tool.

Is that better? Now you can hate me one-sidedly.

Or you could just pick any random person and start hating them for no good reason. There's plenty of good ones in this thread - I'm sure you'll find someone.

Heh. Funny story.

I'm [livejournal.com profile] eowyn315 and that LJ account is a back-up. It gives me great joy to see that it's also a twofer - meaning it annoys you. That's just neat. Carry on with your pointless rivalry with the most violent of all hates. Carry on.

Not miss spelling but Often forgetting the last underscore. I mean it would be difficult to misspell woman of, but often it is just woman_of, instead of woman_of_

See, when I finally caved and got an LJ account (with which I do nothing) I had to come up with something that would fit with all the anonymous-with-name-given-in-subject-heading commenting I'd been doing all over LJ (all right, not ALL OVER LJ, just in, like, two communities). So it had to have both 'jl' and 'laney' in there somewhere, so people knew who this new person was...

Yeah, sorry about that, hon. I typo'ed, then sent Gabrielle the raw code to C&P, and actually emailed her about it, but she hasn't had time to change it yet. :) I did notice. Just...after she'd posted. *sigh*

If it makes you feel any better, I screwed up another of the author names, like...quite a bit. Driving me pretty much crazy - this is why I generally like to make all my posts myself, so I can nit-pick and edit a zillion times if need be.

Yeah. I get that. My RL name is one of those. Actually, my RL name is fairly common, it just has about a zillion spellings, and no one actually cares to check and see if they've gotten it right.

I've pretty much gotten used to it. To the point where when I got my CNA license a bit back, I didn't bother to change the misspelling, and then when I went to try and find a job, they wouldn't hire me because it didn't match my driver's license.

It's totally you. Actually, I blame the numeral. I'd blame the underscore, if you had one. That's where I often fail. I have a long list of friends with user names that took me awhile to nail. Actually, knowing that it rhymes with weird will no doubt help. I misspell my own user name more often than any other, no surprise.

While I don't think I've ever actually misspelled your username, I did think for the longest time that it was deirdl rather than deird1 (see how alike they look!). But the first time I tried to insert [livejournal.com profile] deirdl into a post, it got spat out.

I sometimes see people spelling mine as "angeria" and dropping the "a" in the middle, but it doesn't happen a lot.

Could some of those be typos though. Maybe it's not just misspelling, but people accidentally typing the "i" before the "e". :)

I think it's you and your flagrant disrespect for the i-before-e(-except-after-c) rule.

I seem to have accidentally given myself a very easily spelled username. It rhymes and there are very few scary vowels to deal with. I've never noticed it being mispelled that I know of.
