Okay, people. Watch carefully.

It's really not that hard. At least, I don't think so.
But for some reason, I constantly have people mis-spelling my user name.
Usually as "deidr1". That seems to come up a lot.
Then there's "deirde1", which at least seems pronounceable.
I've also seen "dierd1", "deidre1", and, most recently, "derid1".
Do other people have this happen to them? Or is it just me, and my very odd nickname?
It's "deird". It rhymes with "weird", and is spelled in the same way. IT'S NOT THAT HARD.

Date: 2009-07-12 10:47 pm (UTC)I don't think anyone's ever misspelled mine - since it's just two actual words smooshed together.
When I'm snagging icons from people who have really complicated names with lots of numbers, I always assume they did that to make it harder for me to give them credit. XD

Date: 2009-07-12 10:50 pm (UTC)*fails*
I commonly get people spelling mine "gabriellabelle" or "gabrielleabella". Which I get, cause my username is long and unwieldy. It's just a nickname I have for my cat, Gabrielle (I call her Gabrielle-a-belle. It rolls off the tongue. Try it).

Date: 2009-07-12 10:54 pm (UTC)Actually, it is, originally. :)
Old nickname my sister gave me - and it started as "deirdre", and then progressed to "deird", and then became many, many variations on the theme (deirdles, deirdre-anne, deirdy...), but "deird" is still the most common one.

Date: 2009-07-12 10:55 pm (UTC)Then there's Ninja (Ninja-girl), Riff (usually just "Riff") and Torg (Moron (he is, I swear!)).

Date: 2009-07-12 11:05 pm (UTC)Most of my cats have gotten nicknames of some sort. Either that, or they just get used to being called a generic "Darling", "Sweetie", "Buddy", or something of that sort. Ah, kitties.

Date: 2009-07-12 11:24 pm (UTC)Just a lot. :D
Now that I think about it, Torg gets called "Nerd-Boy" a lot, too. *smirk* We realized after the fact that Ninja could have been named Kusari... but you know, she's really not that evil. She is that acrobatic, though.
(That's Torg in the icon. Riff looks almost just like him.)

Date: 2009-07-12 10:59 pm (UTC)wierdweird correctly, either.I think I really only got the hang of that one about a year ago... which is kind of weird.
But you should see the bewildered looks every time I give out my e-mail address orally... Nine out of ten I just say, "Got a piece of paper? It's kind of tricky." (that goes for both of my e-mail addys...)

Date: 2009-07-13 12:03 am (UTC)Is that better? Now you can hate me one-sidedly.
Or you could just pick any random person and start hating them for no good reason. There's plenty of good ones in this thread - I'm sure you'll find someone.

Date: 2009-07-12 11:22 pm (UTC)(all right, not ALL OVER LJ, just in, like, two communities). So it had to have both 'jl' and 'laney' in there somewhere, so people knew who this new person was...no subject
Date: 2009-07-13 12:12 am (UTC)If it makes you feel any better, I screwed up another of the author names, like...quite a bit. Driving me pretty much crazy - this is why I generally like to make all my posts myself, so I can nit-pick and edit a zillion times if need be.

Date: 2009-07-13 12:20 am (UTC)I've pretty much gotten used to it. To the point where when I got my CNA license a bit back, I didn't bother to change the misspelling, and then when I went to try and find a job, they wouldn't hire me because it didn't match my driver's license.

Date: 2009-07-13 02:40 am (UTC)I seem to have accidentally given myself a very easily spelled username. It rhymes and there are very few scary vowels to deal with. I've never noticed it being mispelled that I know of.

btw - Where did it come from?
