I used to loan out my DVDs until my Btvs got destroyed. Now I don't loan mine out anymore. And if that makes me a bitch...I just don't care. They cost too much to take a chance on someone else screwing them up.
Oof. That's a bummer. I'm so neurotic about lending people things. Cause there's the friends who understand that I get antsy, and there's the friends who are like, "Who cares, you don't need it right now do you? No? Okay, I'll keep it for another five years or so." Grrrrr.
Now I keep a happy little chart (just on some notebook paper, I'm not that crazy) that has a space for the name of the thing I gave out, the type of thing it is, who I gave it to, and a little box to check if they give it back. Not that it makes anyone else give stuff back sooner, but now at least I don't forget about giving stuff out and never get it back.
Like I have two good friends who are always loaning stuff to each other, but are both of the second Five-Year type, so sometimes they'll give each other back their things as birthday presents, with the other person going, "Ohhh yeah, this has been missing for years....huh....". It's kinda humorous.
Anyways - ouch. Year and a half. That so blows.
But you got it back! Hopefully not screwed up or anything.
Heh. Yeah. Seriously...it pisses me off so much. I think it's just two very different mindsets, and also (in general) how you're raised - my mom's really nervy and punctual and hyperorganized, whereas my always-late-in-returning-things friends generally had pretty relaxed our-houses-are-messy upbringings. Which leads to me wanting to punch them sometimes. :D
