You know all those beepy noises a computer makes when it's giving you an error message?

On the way home tonight, I was listening to the radio, and halfway through a song it suddenly dissolved into lots of Error Beeping.


Then, after a few seconds of embarrassed silence, the announcer came on and said, "Err... sorry about that. We switched to Windows 7 this morning... Uh... sorry..."

Sorry to disappoint you, but it could have been a joke. Hardware beeping would probably not have much to do with a new operating system. :P

Pretty sure it wasn't. They had to stop that song halfway through, and they were still having random beeps for quite a while after that.

Nono, what I mean, is that the hardware failure was real, but blaming it on Windows was a joke.

I have Windows 7 on my netbook, and it runs great. Seriously. I have it on all my computers now.

I've had far more trouble with snow leopard than any windows machine has ever given me.
Why? Because apple don't pre-release their operating systems or tell anyone what's going to happen. They just dropped a bunch of functionality, breaking half my apps, and left the app developers to fix it.

Windows on the other hand, at least gave warning before releasing crap (vista) or good (7), so developers had a chance to release versions that worked on the new platform.

That's an app problem, not an OS problem, though.

I've had to replace some minor APPS and was pissed off about HP not having updated my printer driver (When they seemd to have updated everyone else's), but I've had no problems with the OS itself.

Not the case. Apple releases several betas of new OSes, both reference and point release, to developers weeks or months in advance. It's rare for them *not* to have an OS in beta, two if a reference release is a few months away and they're still working on a point release. Sure not every developer gets these betas, but enough do that any issues will be published where the others can find out about them and fix their apps in time. If they don't, unless they're just a small shop or open-source project which doesn't have enough time in which case I'm very forgiving, it's their own silly fault for not paying attention. iSlayer can't update iStat menus in time for 10.6? That's OK, it's a small operation and we always knew they'd have a lot to do in that area of the OS. Adium has to revert to a slightly older version for the first few days of 10.5 being available? Not a big deal. HP only supplies printer drivers for some of their recent models until a few weeks after release? Inexcusable.
