that most wondrous of days

Will people kindly refrain from putting new events on my birthday?

Back in the days of yore, May 25th was known as the day that:

-I was born.
-Oscar Wilde went to jail.
-The Battle of Dunkirk began.
-Frank Oz was born.
-Star Wars was released.

Okay, I got some competition on the Star Wars front, but very few people knew, or cared, when it was released. For the most part, I got the entire day to myself. Go me!

However, in the years since, it has been declared:

-Towel Day
-"The Glorious Twenty-Fifth Of May" (celebrated in Ankh-Morpork)
-Nerd Pride Day

All these events are doing their level best to drown out the wonder of a day that USED to be about ME. This is especially the case given that all three of these days would be considered quite important among the company I keep.

I'm just glad none of my friends celebrate National Tap Dance Day...
