Just got home to find a lizard on my front doorstep.

A real, 8 inch long lizard.

It seems to be living in a teeny hole underneath my driveway.



*waiting carefully for it to emerge so that I can take photos*

I get these ones in my garden quite often - called "Sleepy Lizards" locally but I can't remember what their proper name is ("Bluetongue"?). You mainly see them squashed on the road because, unfortunately, they like sleeping on the hot tarmac.

Ooh, fun. We get heaps of skinks here, scurrying across the bricks, but have only sighted a bluetongue once, and it scared hubby by rustling loudly through the grass- us being in snake country, and all... :-p
