Well, it always looks like fun when other people do it! Of course, now I realise I'm going to get someone whose entire oeuvre is, I dunno, Willow/Angel or something. If that's the case, they'll have written one obscure drabble that's something else, right? Right?

If all else fails, just pick the weirdest one, make it go backwards through time, and add ice-cream. That's what I did, anyway.

Ice-cream is clearly the secret. I was thinking that, if in doubt, I could just add poetry, but the 1000-word minimum for a month's writing means that could get a little daunting (sometimes the stuff comes quickly - other times it, er, doesn't...). But I love remixes of music, so by rights of the continual references to the metaphor I should love this too, dammit.

But part of the fun, I think, is exploring someone else's fic without too much preconception. Unless they really are a hardcore Dana/Snyder shipper, in which case I am prepared to judge them from the outset.

Nevertheless, you make a good point... I like your fic too! It would be weird to take the scissors to it.

As you should. (I am rather fearing the random ships now - and the different combinations of people I don't like. A collection made up of Bangel, Willow/Fred, Randomer-I-never-cared-about/spoon would probably be the end of me. Mostly because I'd probably have to write Spoondomer.)

Not signing up for Remix, not a writer but regarding the poll, I'd think it was accessible to high rank but blacked out almost entirely.

I've read a fic where there's an FBI file on the initiative - and someone in the government has gone through the whole thing, line by line, with a black marker. And they haven't just blacked out everything... exactly... more gone through it, blacked out a quarter, gone through what's left, decided to black out a few more bits, then decided that maybe these two sentences should go as well... until literally the entire file is just black lines - and only then do they sit back and realise what they've done.

The idea of a remix fascinates me, but I don't feel the urge to participate. There are fics that I'd love to rewrite - the fics that frustrate me and make me wish that the writer did it differently. The chances that I get the opportunity to rewrite the stuff by this or that concrete author are next to zero.

So I go back to rewriting a guy named Joss Whedon... :)

I checked "classified", but in reality I think it's more like "mysteriously missing"; there's a note somewhere that it was checked out by junior agent M. Ross, and never returned. M. Ross herself is also mysteriously missing.

...Damn plot bunnies. That's 2 in 20 minutes.

Ohhhhhmigod ohmigod I am SO EXCITED for the remix! Maybe this time I'll even get someone I don't know and I actually have to read their fic to find one I want to do. That could be crazy. :P

And Buffy's file is either classified or completely normal and then the government stalks you, but I can't decide. Either seems likely.

I want to do remix. Because I want to join the craziness and try something new and get a cool remix of something of mine because I'm selfish that way.

But last year's remix was like pulling teeth and I feel I mixed the original fic rather beyond the breaking point, and ultimately it was just too much stress. Especially with timing and end-of-school-year stuff and possibly moving... (What are the dates, anyway? I can't find them. ETA: Never mind, I found them.)
