random shippyness

Occasionally I wish my flist was made up of fanatical Farscape fans instead of fanatical BtVS fans.
If, for instance, I wanted to squee madly about Buffy/Spike, I could pretty much guarantee that at least four people on my flist would squee right back at me.
On the other hand, if I want to squee madly about John/Aeryn, I might end up talking to myself...
Oh well. *squees anyway*
I just rewatched The Way We Were, and yay! Awesome, awesome episode.
I love how Aeryn has spent her entire life not feeling much of anything, and having all her feelings squashed by her job - and now she's starting to discover how emotions work. Which is really great, but also really bad, because she's suddenly discovering how painful all this stuff in her past actually was.
And it makes for such an interesting relationship dynamic, because she's starting to get close to Crichton, and this whole discovering-emotions thing is really helping that, but at the same time the painful memories are actually starting to hurt her for the first time in a long time so that the more emotionally open she gets, the more she becomes tentative and afraid of getting hurt again - so she's pushing forward and pulling back at the same time and getting more and more vulnerable, and it's...
*sighs*
I LOVE THIS RELATIONSHIP. It's so extremely cool.
Why oh why can't I quit my job and spend all day watching Farscape for a few weeks?

Date: 2010-06-20 10:25 pm (UTC)It's quite weird having my main fandom being one of the biggest ones around, and my second fandom being... about three people.

Date: 2010-06-21 10:44 am (UTC)YAY FARSCAPE!
No other show has such heartbreak, such joy, such pain, such laugh-out-loud moments, such quiet introspection, such worry, such sheer delight, such an amazing cast of characters living such amazing lives, which we get to live with them...
And thanks to some truly awesome music vids out there, there are some songs that I just can't hear without seeing and missing Farscape.

Next time we marathon-watch tv, we must include Farscape somehow...

Date: 2010-06-21 11:11 am (UTC)I will squee with you over John/Aeryn anytime, for they are flawed individually, wonderful together and just magnificent generally. =)
Farscape is one of those rare shows that manages to allow their characters to grow and learn and change and screw up and grow and learn and... You know, just like the rest of us do. But they get to do it with muppets (oh, my envy knows no bounds).
At least we have chocolate.

Date: 2010-06-22 03:47 am (UTC)Watching characters actually change is one of the delightful bits about the show. It does people really, really well.

I just rewatched The Way We Were, and yay! Awesome, awesome episode.
It's one of my favorites. Great character ep for Aeryn and for Pilot.

Date: 2010-06-23 04:16 am (UTC)I ship them to the point when early in the show Crichton had that sort of fling with the blond Peacekeeper I yelled at the TV the entire episode... <--- hardcore scary nerd back then
