I'm So Proud!
Feb. 27th, 2008 09:30 pmMY NEPHEW CAN SAY MY NAME!
Okay, granted, it sounds sort of like "Aw Deh", but the intent is there! He said it three times this evening, and pointed at me every time!
And the poor lad is actually working with severe difficulties. After all, his cousin calls me "Auntie Maz", his godparents call me "Mez", and his mother calls me whatever springs to mind. And somehow he's supposed to work out from all of this confusion that he's meant to call me "Auntie Deird"...
I didn't quite have the evening I was expecting to. I had planned to drop off some stuff in Ferntree Gully (such as tickets for my play), and then go home for a quiet night of watching Sarah Connor.
But my sister lives in Ferntree Gully too - along with my utterly adorable nephew - so I decided to drop in on the way home.
And then, as I was leaving her house, I got a phonecall from a uni friend, who said that his wife was having a birthday dinner and could I please be at the Pancake Parlour in 15 minutes?
The Pancake Parlour is in Chadstone. For non-Melburnians, Ferntree Gully and Chadstone are both 20 minutes drive from my house. In opposite directions.
So much for a quiet night in...
I did get to catch up with a lot of lovely people, though.
