The Fleet

My desk is slowly collecting a supply of spaceships.

Only two, so far: Serenity, and Starbug (plus a skutter, which is not a spaceship but is still pretty fun). And I'm extremely happy that, proportionally, they're the right size compared to each other.
This, by the way, is also the reason I haven't yet bought the "Inara's shuttle" model. It's almost the same size as the Serenity model! And that's just inaccurate!

One day when I have money, and the time to track them down, I'm going to add Moya and Battlestar Galactica to my collection. Then, I'll bring in my TARDIS pencil tin, and I'll have the complete set, right here in my office.
Of course, there are also model Stargates (is that what they're called?) that look really funky. But if I buy one of those, I'll feel obligated to watch the whole series, just so I can justify having it on my desk...

And, although I don't really like the movies that much (not the updated ones, anyway), I'd still love to have a model of those Star Wars ships with the wings that fold out into Xs.
And the Enterprise.
And the Heart Of Gold!
And the ship from Galaxy Quest!
And Talyn! And he and Moya could fly around in front of my computer, and then starburst across the room...

You can probably figure out why it is I end up spending so much money on dvds. One thing just kind of leads to another. It's complicated.

"those Star Wars ships with the wings that fold out into Xs"

The X-Wings? ;p

Also, which Heart of Gold? the one from the TV show, the one from the movie or one that actually fits the description and looks like a running shoe?

Or all three?

I have a collection of LEGO Star Wars spaceships. XD

Definitely the running shoe Heart Of Gold. Anything else just isn't worth it.

Yeah, that'd probably be an X-Wing fighter. Lego made some pretty spiffy mini kits a few years ago, but I think they'd be hard to find by now.

Isn't it funny that I can remember the names of so many alien spaceships, but somehow find "X-wing" too complex for my tiny, tiny brain?

Lego is wonderful!

Heh, I've just been steeped in Star Wars culture for...eight, nine years now? My husband is a fanatic. :D

And yes, Lego rocks. :D

Can we see a pic of your desk? It sounds awesome...mine being a shared one, I can't personalise it that much, which sucks.
Although, new desks are on order, and I may be able to claim one for my very very own and decorate it with so much Crichton and XFiles and general geekery that all others will be afraid to sit at it. Which would rock.

- and yes, the Stargates are called Stargates. Or just 'gates. I'm more than happy to lend you all 215 episodes whenever you want to make a start...? ;-)

Unfortunately, I am hopeless at cameras. And still don't have my own.
All these photos I keep displaying on LJ are taken by other people, and I don't think I can convince any of my friends to travel into the CBD purely to take a photo...

You own Stargate? Excellent. I'm now one episode off finishing Farscape (plus a movie), so I'm going to need a new show to obsess about.

Hmm..does your phone not have a camera? Tsk. How positively medieval of you.

Ooh, how's the final Farscape treating you? I'm waiting to hear the howl of anguish all the way over here in Ballarat...

Yep, SG is very good to obsess over. As is XFiles. I can lend you season 1 whenever you like...very easy to watch about 10 at a time on the weekends... :-)

The final Farscape is... impressive. I think I'm going to need a week to let my brain settle, and then I'll probably post something about it.

Actually, I own the first season of X-Files. So far, I've watched one episode. I'm sure I'll finish it some time in the next decade...

Okay, come Wednesday I expect an analysis of the final ep...

*One* episode. Wow, it must have really grabbed you! A friend asked me to pick out 'one episode per season' to give her an overview of the show...I picked out 36 eps, couldn't narrow it down more than that...most being the funny ones, of which I didn't actually realise to many existed!
Now I want to watch them all when she's done...
You have 5 years, tops. Should get through all nine seasons by then, plus the first movie, the one about to come out (yay!), and the subsequent ones that will no doubt be made... :-D
