It was rather wonderful, this morning, sitting in my traditional Anglican church, listening to the traditional Anglican priest arguing passionately that women and men were equals under Christ, and that the ordination of women was 100% supported by scripture.

It's kinda sad that that argument still does sound so revolutionary, but listening this morning, I didn't really feel sad. I felt valued. And released.

It's funny, in retrospect, just how many things in scripture are very supportive of women being followers/disciples, etc., yet somehow it was framed in a a way completely antithetical to that. Thank the Lord for more modern scholarship and question asking.

Mmm, it's interesting seeing all the different perspectives people can get out of exactly the same bit of the Bible...

I hate when certain people use the Bible as an excuse for sexism. I do believe God created men and women differently (as in different for a reason) but I do believe we are all equals.

In fact, Jesus BUCKED against tradition by teaching females! He believed they were smart and equal enough to learn from him. In fact, it was the women who financed Jesus' ministry.

(funny what happens when you actually read the Bible).
