And Now For Some Randomness...

I'm going to see Arsenic and Old Lace tonight. Should be fun, but I'll probably end up coming home and watching the movie straight away, just to get the proper characters back in my head.
Today, my nephew picked out a book, climbed up on my lap, and asked "read please?" And the only part of that sentence that doesn't make me beam with pride and mushiness is the word 'today'...
I've finished the third colour in my cross-stitch. It's starting to actually look vaguely like a picture!
Stargate is still making no sense, but at least isn't making less sense than before. The characters, however, are all suffering from cases of rampant stupidity, naivety, and/or pig-headedness. Teal'c is pretty fun, though.
I was discussing the weirdness of Stargate with my brother-in-law today, and he ended up shrugging and saying "It's just entertainment for the masses. What else did you expect?" and I was left thinking "Well, that's kinda the POINT. I'm used to watching genre tv that takes itself seriously as a craft - and watching something that is 'entertainment for the masses' is kinda throwing me."
Choc-peppermint icecream is awesome. Choc-peppermint icecream with Ice Magic on top is even better.
I've discovered a side-benefit of electric pianos: because I can record myself, I can play duets! Just me! I record one part, and then play the other part along with the recording. Very fun!
My cya ficathon assignment is slowly getting written. But unfortunately it seems to be turning my brain to mush...

Date: 2008-06-15 11:30 am (UTC)I remember that the series became more light-hearted after S1 (I was disappointed) and eventually began to make self-referential jokes. I don't recall the pig-headedness, but that was something like nine years ago....
