My Parents
Nov. 7th, 2006 09:03 pmHonestly, my parents really can be amusing sometimes. After spending the last two years informing me that I absolutely must leave home before I'm 25, and if I haven't I'll come home to find all my belongings in the front yard, they are now starting to realise exactly what it will mean to have their "baby" gone.
Suddenly, I'm hearing a lot of "you can stay a bit longer if you'd like - it will help you to save money, and keep you in a nice neighbourhood, and it might be much better!"
Strangely enough, I've spent the last two years looking forward with dread to when I move out and have to pay rent, and just as people start wanting me to stay home, I'm getting more and more excited about leaving...

Date: 2006-11-12 04:19 pm (UTC)Needless to say, my reasons for moving out are that of independence - and location. If I eventually get work in the CBD or surrounding areas (where most of the network engineering/telco/ISP jobs are), I'll be travelling one hour - each direction to work every day. That's two less hours I can spend drinking.. or sleeping. Plus the associated transportation costs.
I figure if mum wants to charge me board, the travel costs and the time would probably drive me either insane, or out of home.
But probably both.
I just need that full-time job first.
