Weekend Summary
Aug. 4th, 2008 10:30 amI had Friday off, so my weekend actually started a day early.
Gorgeous, gorgeous nephews
I went over to my grandmother's house on Friday morning, along with my sisters and the boys. Gran has an electric piano with over a hundred different "instrument" options - so I showed them how to play Old MacDonald Has A Farm in "trumpet", "drum-kit", and "helicopter".
Football
J had spare tickets to a footy game - Collingwood vs Hawthorn - so he offered me one, and we went to the MCG. He's a Hawthorn fan, and I barrack for the Pies (who are Collingwood, by the way)... but I ended up cheering for the Hawks for most of the game, because Collingwood were playing so abysmally. And really, Hawthorn deserved to win, under the circumstances.
Warrandyte market
I drove up to Warrandyte river on Saturday morning, and checked out their monthly market. Lots of fun crafty stuff that I really can't justify buying, and a few kids toys that I probably could justify buying, but that my nephews don't really need.
In the end, the only thing I bought was a necklace made out of a spoon handle. It's prettier than it sounds...
Babysitting
At lunchtime I drove down to Ferntree Gully to take care of Caleb while my sister painted bits of her house.
He has a whole lot of toy trucks, and cars, and planes - and kept picking them up and making "brrm" or "zoom" noises. But this wasn't enough - he's apparently decided that he needs more audience participation. I was watching him fly an aeroplane around the room, and he suddenly picked up a helicopter, handed it to me, and insisted "zoom!" - clearly wanting me to join in. So we "zoom"ed around the house...
Dinner and TV
In the evening,
taiba came over for dinner - and we watched Jeeves & Wooster. I keep forgetting how very entertaining that show can be.
Danny The Dog
On Sunday afternoon, I drove down to my parents' house, and took their dog for a walk. Not a very long one - we just went down the street to a little park, and he ran around and sniffed things.
...and that concludes the interesting bits of my weekend.
