Brave New World
It’s an artform more than a science – if you’re any good at it.
And she’s very good.
It’s a matter of looking into someone’s soul, drawing out the nightmares inside them, placing the wish at the perfect point, and then you twist…
The world folds around itself as the old gets stripped away – killing hundreds and plunging the others into fear.
Suddenly there are bars on windows, curfews, vampires living in the centre of town, and a resistance movement in the school library trying desperately to push back the darkness.
Anyanka watches, impressed, and whispers, “I thought I was hard-core.”

Keep Him Here
Life is full of hits and misses. Today it’s just the misses.
She missed the signs, missed her chance, and now she’s going to miss her final opportunity to give him what he needs.
She’ll never get there in time.
But she runs. Runs. Runs as fast as she knows how.
And she’s a Slayer, so that’s pretty fast.
She’s going to make it…
She arrives just in time to see the helicopter leave the ground. And he hasn’t even noticed her.
Her last chance at romance is flying away to the jungle, and all she can do is watch.

Stole My Barbie
“Xander!”
“Ha-ha!”
“Xander, give it!”
“Come and get it, silly!”
“Stop running away!”
“Then you run faster!”
“Stop it, Xander, it isn’t fair!”
“Is so!”
“Is not!”
“Is so!”
“Is not!”
“Is so!”
“Meany!”
“Crybaby!”
“Bad speller!”
“Oww!”
“Hey! Oww!”
“Ahh! That hurt!”
“That did too!”
“You hit me first!”
“You’re not my boyfriend anymore, Xander Harris!”
“Fine! Then you’re not my girlfriend either!”
“Fine! Stupid head!”
“Dumb face!”
She kicked herself about that for years. But it had seemed so important at the time.
“Here you go. Friends again?”
“Friends. Doofus pants.”
“Dork person.”
“Xander?”
“Yeah?”
“Where’s her head?”
Perfection
Mirage Mansion, in the mountains of Los Angeles, was home to three of the greatest masterminds the world had ever seen: “Wireless” Mears, whose robo-minions patrolled the grounds, and were feared across California, “Gandalf” Levinson, whose spells were legend throughout the world, and the most powerful of all, Great Wells The Summoner, who commanded armies both demon and human, directing them with merely a tune from his mystical Trumpet Of Death.
Their word was law, their names were feared, and nothing, no nothing in the world could stop them – not even older brothers…
Andrew sighed happily, and kept on daydreaming.

Waiting
How long has he been down here? He can’t see the sunlight. Can’t see his watch – and it’s only water-resistant, not water-proof, so it’s probably stopped working by now.
Has it been long enough for his watch to stop working?
He can’t count minutes, hours, days, (years?). Can’t keep track that way.
But he can count fish.
One fish… my son hates me.
Seven fish… Wes betrayed me.
Fifty-four fish… did I betray him too?
Three-million-nine-hundred-sixty-one-thousand-two-hundred-thirty-six fish… does anyone still remember me anymore?
How long has it been?
Dry land’s a distant memory, and the sea is full of fish.

“Where’s her head?”
LMAO.
I think I've read some of these before - they're all great - but 'Barbie' is new to me, and it's just perfect. I love how Willow kicks herself...and the headless Barbie? Oh, priceless. :P

Stole My Barbie
“Xander?”
“Yeah?”
“Where’s her head?”
Would you believe that happened to me almost exactly as a kid? I mean..not with Xander, unfortunately..but yeah. My only Barbie was headless. –sniff-
Anyway. Cute as hell – love the dynamic. They truly are the best of friends.
Perfection - I love the way you write Andrew. Which, is surprising, because usually he just irks me.. But when you write him, he’s just such a lovable dork.
Waiting - My favorite of this batch.
One fish… my son hates me.
Seven fish… Wes betrayed me.
Fifty-four fish… did I betray him too?
I had wondered how he would keep track of time down there..poor guy.
Very nice, Mez.

Aren't they fun?! I love mini-Willow and mini-Xander...
But when you write him, he’s just such a lovable dork.
Hmm... I think my Andrew obsession might be leaking through into my writing...
