(According to Georgette Heyer, a female traitor should be known as a "traitress". I look forward to using this word in everyday life.)
Evil Elf hasn't been seen for a while. Filling in for him is someone I have started thinking of as Karaoke Cat.
Karaoke Cat specialises in some almost musical yowling (almost being the operative word, here). He goes up to the dining room window, and warbles through the curtains, to see if he can attracts Elf's attention. This goes on for several minutes.
Then, he moves around to the next window, and starts again.
This can be a good way to keep Elf entertained for a while. He dashes around, from window to window, trying to guess where Karaoke Cat will appear next. It's almost like those arcade games with the snakes popping out of holes randomly...
So anyway, last night, sure enough, at about 11pm, Karaoke Cat made an appearance. I was asleep at the time, so the first I knew of it was Elf's paws hitting me in the stomach as he leaped off the bed and raced into the kitchen.
And I listened, groggily, as they meowed at each other for a bit.
This went on for over three hours.
I kept just drifting off to sleep, when Karaoke Cat would suddenly pick a new location, and I'd hear the same sequence:
musical yowling --> Elf running across the house, collar bell tinkling --> friendly meowing --> silence --> musical yowling
...over and over again.
They ran around to the dining room, the lounge, my bedroom, the parlour (just a room containing my piano and lots of boxes, but I feel kind of snazzy when I call it a 'parlour'), the kitchen, and even the window in the laundry (which is quite high up on the outside).
And I lay there with my pillow over my head, cursing the day I decided a kitten might be kinda cute to have around.
I might be sort of tired, today.
Just to let you know.
