The local council has "Seasons Greetings!" posters up everywhere.

Since when does November 6th count as part of the Christmas season?

Guess they're thinking of Thanksgiving.

It reminds me of the old precession of the seasons problem that predated the current calendar system. One day, if nothing is done, Christmas season will begin in January...before coming back around to Christmas again. Maybe in a decade or two.

It's just ridiculous, isn't it?
And pretty much, as soon as the new year starts, they put up Easter decorations.

Christmas decorations went up Oct. 15th here... Many of our larger stores have a holiday section or a seasonal isle, and while Halloween still dominated those sections/isles, Christmas stuff started creeping in at the edges of the sections or in other sections (I noticed our floral department at our supermarket started with the Christmas stuff really early!)

But the other end of that is that the Muslim/Jewish holidays are upon us, and much earlier this year, which might account for "Season's Greetings" to make sure that they don't miss the start of those holiday seasons....

I visited the fist private house at work this morning to have a Christmas tre up.

Mind you the mother of the little mentally handicapped boy in question said it was to try and get him used to it and stop him attacking the ones in shops.

That's...odd. I'm experiencing the same thing in Japan. Walking home from a Halloween party at 1am, and there are people setting up Christmas trees outside their shops. The Japanese don't even really celebrate Christmas! It's just an excuse to out on a date. >_>
