So Much Excitement!

I've been almost entirely without internet for four days straight.
This was not good.
In the meantime, lots of things have been happening...
Pink Ribbons
My sister had a Pink Ribbon Morning Tea on Saturday, to raise money for all the Pink Ribbon charity people.
Mostly, a really fun chance to catch up with some friends, and to eat lots of pink food.
No, really. Pink food.
We had cupcakes with pink icing, other cupcakes with pink cake, watermelon, raspberries, a pink cake, chocolate bikkies with pink stuff inside, pink lemonade, pink champagne, and pink (strawberry flavoured) milk.
It was extremely fun.
Several of the women there were from my sister's playgroup - and they all brought their sons. Caleb, suddenly having all his friends at his house, went slightly insane, and ran around yelling happily...
PAIN!
...and then I went to hospital.
Well, not entirely. First, I went home, had a nap, cooked some dinner, patted my cat, and had an early night.
Then, I woke up (back pain), got Mum to give me an emergency massage (back pain), went to church and played piano (more back pain), had lunch at someone's house (aspirin! no more back pain!), went home (all better), went shopping (why not?), bought ingredients for dinner (sudden return of back pain in the middle of supermarket! - hobbled back to my car wincing with every step), drove home (PAIN!), had more aspirin (no effect - still in pain), called Mum to come over and give me another back massage (pain-pain-pain-pain-pain), let Mum in (pain...), collapsed on a chair (still in pain), and finally, crying from pain (quite literally), got Mum to drive me to hospital.
And I've now worn a hospital gown! A proper, backless hospital gown!
(I have also had x-rays taken, been injected with huge numbers of painkillers, and been driven round a hospital on one of those portable beds. But I'm mostly excited about the gown.)
The bed was kinda cool, actually. The guy taking me to have my back x-rayed didn't actually push it. Instead, he hooked it up to this robot-thing, and that pulled my bed along while the guy remote-controlled it from behind!
I was still in pain and all - but I couldn't stop grinning, because, at heart, I am an engineer... and a sci-fi geek.
For the record: I'm fine. My back will be fine. I am not dying of some strange tropical disease. I am still in a bit of pain, but I now have super-awesome painkillers, so that's not really a problem. I AM OKAY.
Although, if anyone feels like sending me flowers, chocolates, and In Sympathy gift baskets, I'm quite willing to recant the above statement. I'm on my death bed! No really! Send prezzies!
Hopefully my home internet will be back to normal soon...

Date: 2008-11-17 07:36 am (UTC)I know back pain. Back pain is the enemy. Back pain is evil. They should've had a demon representing it on Buffy.
I'm glad you're all right--just strained something?--so get well soon.

Date: 2008-11-17 05:27 pm (UTC)Seriously - I hope the back continues to settle down - and I like the idea of electrically powered beds rather than the porters pushing, too.
