Just saw Stardust.

How has everyone not convinced me to see this ages ago? It's really good.

It's lovely isn't it :)

I love most of Neil Gaiman's stuff and this turned into a really good movie. Did you see Coraline?

No, Coraline (the book) freaked me out. I'd end up having nightmares if I tried watching the movie...

Stardust is wonderful, though.

Oh I *adore* that film. We even went and bought it on DVD. ::pets it::

I saw it just recently as well and then wondered why I waited so long to see something so charming and lovely. :)

Ah yes, awesome movie, for all that it was the first time I arghed at "TRUE LOVE DOES NOT HAVE THIS POWER."

...I have it on DVD and haven't watched it. Why. *plots to remedy*

I saw it last summer and instantly fell in love with it!

I have horribly tragic news about that movie (which I think is adorable): Sarah Michelle Gellar was supposed to play Yvaine, but it was stupid FPJ's turn to make a movie. I remain depressed about this to this day, since, though I loved the movie, I thought Claire Danes was horribly miscast. I can't imagine how much more I would have loved the movie if SMG had been in it. *sigh*

But yeah, other than that, it's lovely, isn't it?

I'm sure I would have tried at one point. Want to read the book? I like the ending in the book better.

Also: See Hot Fuzz!!

I enjoyed the movie too, bar the cheesy happy ending, because that shit doesn't fly with me. That aside, I thought Claire Danes and Charlie Cox had great chemistry, and Robert DeNiro was hysterical.

Surely I raved about this movie to you?
Gosh, I thought I'd told everyone to watch it by now...
it rocks!
I love love love it. Not as clever as Neil Gaiman's book, and some bits a little too pat (for someone who's read and loved the cleverness of said book), but still, a beautiful movie I think.
"and this...is where I got hit, by a magical flying MORON!"
Hee.
All that said, I can't stand the role they created for Ricky Gervais, adore Robert deNiro's Captain (even though he was but a paragraph in the book), loooove Dexter Fletcher's eye-rolling sidekick, and think Michelle Pfeiffer makes a brilliant witch, and poor old Septimus is wonderfully cast.
And, the movie has a Take That song in the credits! *goes back to 13-year-old fangirl past*
:-)
I love watching it once a year or so, never fails to get a smile and a sigh.
If you haven't read the book, you should!

I can confidently say you have never raved about this movie to me. :)

It's excellent, isn't it? I'd never read the book before, so I had no idea what to expect...

In that case, I hang my head in shame. I was sure I'd lent it to you a few years back! Hmm. Ah well.
At least you have seen it now, and know that it Is Good.

Your turn next time.

The ending is different in the book, so you would only have known half of what to expect, anyway :-p

How does it end in the book?

From: [identity profile] immer-am-lesen.livejournal.com
...better than in the movie! :-)

Well, far less 'pat' and neat. No great big meet-up at the end, for starters...and the whole 'Monday' thing! So sad they had to lose that in the movie.
